The World Federation is pleased to share the following scholarship and award opportunities offered by eight Universities in the United Kingdom to International Students:
1) LOUGHBOROUGH UNIVERSITY GRADUATE SCHOOL INTERNATIONAL SCHOLARSHIPS
Over 100 scholarships will be available in 2007/2008 to new self-financing full-time international students who are permanently resident in a country outside the European Union (EU).
These scholarships will be to the value of 25% of the programme tuition fee and that value will be credited to the student's tuition fee account. The Loughborough University Scholarships will be awarded on the basis of outstanding academic achievement and potential. Each scholarship will be of 1 year's duration.
Application Process for Postgraduate Taught applicants:
Applicants with exceptional qualifications may be offered a scholarship with their offer of a place.
Applicants to the following Departments will AUTOMATICALLY be considered for a scholarship - provided the initial application is complete and contains all the relevant information (degree transcripts, references etc.). For these Departments there is no separate scholarship application process.

2) UNIVERSITY OF WESTMINSTER
Full international scholarships
- Amount: Full tuition fee waivers, accommodation, living expenses and flights to and from London. The scholarship will be renewed each year, subject to satisfactory academic progress
- Eligibility: You must be an international student from a developing country and hold an offer for a full-time undergraduate degree at the University
- Criteria: Academic excellence, development potential and financial need
- Deadline: 31 May 2008
Diplomatic scholarships
- Amount: 65% fee waivers
- Eligibility: These scholarships are available to you if you are a child of diplomats from developing countries, whose countries are unable to contribute to the fees. Your parent in the diplomatic post must be based in the UK, and you must hold an offer for a full-time undergraduate degree at the University. The scholarship is for the length of the course (3 or 4 years) and is subject to satisfactory academic progress

East Timor scholarship
This scholarship is awarded in conjunction with the Ai-Kameli Trust and International Students House.
- Amount: Full tuition fee waiver, accommodation at International Students House, living expenses and flights to and from London for the period of study
- Eligibility: You must be from East Timor and wish to pursue a full-time undergraduate degree at the University of Westminster. You must be interested in studying a subject useful to the development of East Timor, and intend to return on completion of the course

Ken Bird memorial scholarship
Ken Bird was formerly Chair of the University's Technology and Design Department. This scholarship reflects Ken's interest in South Asia as well as his desire to help provide educational opportunities for women. The family of Ken Bird will take an active role in the choice and welfare of the scholar. The scholarship is awarded jointly with International Students House.
- Amount: Full tuition fee waiver and accommodation at International Students House
- Eligibility: Preference will be given to you if you are a female student from India or Sri Lanka and hold an offer for a full-time undergraduate degree in a technology based subject. The scholarship will be renewed each year based on your academic performance
- Criteria: Academic excellence, development potential and financial need

Part international scholarships
The University offers a number of part scholarships (£2,000 fee waiver) to you if you are an exceptionally well qualified student from outside the UK/EU.
These will be for each year of the undergraduate degree, subject to satisfactory academic progress. In the case of courses with a placement year, no scholarship is payable in that year as the University does not charge fees.

University of Westminster and Scindia School (India) scholarship
- Amount: Full tuition fee waiver and accommodation at International Students House
- Eligibility: You must be a scholarship recipient from Scindia School, India, and hold an offer for a full-time undergraduate degree at the University of Westminster. The scholarship will be renewed each year based on your academic performance

3) UNIVERSITY OF BRISTOL
International Recruitment Office Scholarships - 2008/2009 for undergraduate students
We have a number of scholarships available, up to a maximum of £2,000 per year of study, for high-achieving undergraduate students (overseas fee payers). Scholarships are allocated to students from a number of different countries, which are nominated on a rotational basis.
No more than one scholarship will be awarded per country, per year for medical students. There is no need to make a separate application for these scholarships as all eligible students who have firmly accepted a place at Bristol by 6 June 2008 will automatically be considered.
For 2008 entry, applicants who are overseas fee payers and resident in the following regions will be considered (subject to firmly accepting their offer at Bristol by 6 June 2008): Tanzania, Hong Kong, USA, Latin America, Thailand, Kenya, Vietnam, India, Sri Lanka, Mauritius,Canada
International Undergraduate Scholarships
This year's undergraduate scholarships are available to students living in the following areas: Tanzania, USA, Latin America, Thailand, Kenya, Vietnam, India, Sri Lanka, Hong Kong, Singapore, Mauritius and Canada and who are liable to pay the overseas tuition fee. These countries will be reviewed on an annual basis, and the University reserves the right to award additional scholarships to students from countries not listed.
- Applicants who have firmly accepted their offer from Bristol via UCAS, by the 6 June 2008 will automatically be considered for the scholarship and need not take any further action.
- Applicants who have deferred entry will be considered for the scholarships in May of the year they commence their studies at Bristol.
- Current undergraduate University of Bristol students are not eligible to apply.
- Scholarships will be awarded to the students who have demonstrated the most outstanding academic achievement. All aspects of the UCAS form may be used in the decision making process.
- Students will be notified in late September or early October if they have been successful and there will be a ceremony held later in the academic year to celebrate the awards.
- Scholarships are awarded by the 'International Recruitment Office Scholarships' Panel and all decisions are final.
- The scholarship amount will be deducted directly from the tuition fees of the award winners, and will be paid each year for the duration of the undergraduate programme, subject to satisfactory academic progress.
- Applicants awarded the scholarships must agree to provide a student profile to be used in University of Bristol publications, and will be invited to attend an award ceremony held in the first semester of the first year.

4) UNIVERSITY OF SALFORD
Salford Law School Scholarships
Study at Salford Law School School and earn £1,500 towards the cost of University. Apply to Salford for any of our LLB programmes; Law, Law with Criminology or Law with Finance starting in 2008. Obtain 3 A grades at A-level (or equivalent) in the A-levels upon which your offer is based
Collect your cash! The £1,500 will be paid in 3 instalments of £500, midway through semester 1 of each year of study. You must commence year 1 in 2008, year 2 in 2009 and year 3 in 2010.

5) UNIVERSITY OF GLASGOW
Glasgow Undergraduate Excellence Scholarships
Information: The University of Glasgow will award 60 undergraduate scholarships for international students starting a degree programme in September 2008 in the following faculties:
- Arts
- Engineering
- Biomedical & Life Sciences
- Physical Sciences
- Information & Mathematical Sciences
- Law, Business & Social Sciences
- Value: The successful applicants will receive a scholarship of up to £3,000 per annum as a tuition fee deduction. There are 60 awards of up to £12,000 each.
Eligibility: Applicants must achieve a minimum of A-level grades AAB or the international equivalent and hold the University of Glasgow as their firm choice through the UCAS system. All applicants will automatically be considered on the basis of their existing application form, following publication of their results - no additional application is required.

6) UNIVERSITY OF ASTON
School of Engineering and Applied Science International Scholarship Scheme
The School of Engineering and Applied Science (SEAS) offers an automatic entrance scholarship of £1,500 to all International Students who undertakes an SEAS undergraduate Bachelors degree programme. Please note that the scholarship does not apply to the Foundation or Placement Year.
An additional award may be available (excluding Computing Science, Computing for Business and Transport Management), based on academic merit, which will enhance the basic scholarship from £1,500 up to a maximum of £3,000 in the year of enrolment.
For subsequent years, a scholarship of between £1,500 and £3,000 may be available based on academic merit. When a student is successfully awarded one of these scholarships, the amount awarded will be deducted from his or her tuition fees.

7) UNIVERSITY OF KENT
Overseas (non-EU) scholarship award
The University of Kent offers a number of scholarships to overseas (Non-EU) students registering on approved postgraduate taught and undergraduate courses at Kent. The scholarships, awarded on the basis of academic merit, provide for a reduction of £5,000 off each year's overseas fees. The closing date for application is 31 May prior to the academic year of entry.
Eligibility: Applicants for undergraduate or postgraduate taught study at the University of Kent may ask to be considered for one of the University's Overseas Scholarships. In order to be eligible for consideration for a scholarship, all of the conditions 1 to 4 below must have been satisfied:
- An application must have been made for a degree course (either undergraduate or postgraduate) at the University of Kent
- The applicant must have received an offer of a place on such a degree course
- The University must have received confirmation of the applicant's acceptance of the offer.
- The applicant must have demonstrated ability to fund their study programme.
- How to apply – Undergraduate: At the point of application for the scholarship, you are asked to submit an original essay of between 750 to 1,000 words on the topic: "Why have you chosen your selected degree programme; why have you applied to the University of Kent; and how do you see your degree at Kent preparing you for your life after graduation".
All applications, whether online or by mail, must include your UCAS number, date of birth and the 750-1,000 word essay as specified above (which, in the case of an online application, can be cut and pasted from a Word document). The application may be sent by mail to:

8) UNIVERSITY COLLEGE LONDON
Harold and Olga Fox Scholarships for International Students
The Harold and Olga Fox Scholarship fund has been set up thanks to a recent bequest from the estate of Professor Harold Fox to Biological Sciences students. We award one Scholarship per year to overseas (full fee-paying) students applying for the BSc degree programme in Biology, Environmental Biology, Genetics, Human Genetics or Zoology. The Harold and Olga Fox Scholarships will pay £5000 towards overseas fees in each of the three years of the Scholar's course, subject to satisfactory academic progress.
To apply for one of these Scholarships you must hold an offer of admission to study towards one of our 3-year undergraduate BSc degrees. To apply for one of the Scholarships please submit with your application:

- Covering letter in your own handwriting explaining why you wish to study at UCL
- An essay in English (approximately 1000 words) on any biological subject of your choice (eg. The importance of Biology in the 21st century)

Harold Fox completed his PhD thesis, "Development of the skull and associated structures in Amphibia with special reference to the Urodela," in 1951, in the Department of Zoology and Comparative Anatomy, under the supervision of Dr. Michael Abercrombie.
