Al- Muntazir Schools Celebrate Birth of Imam Mahdi (atfs) – Dar es Salaam, Tanzania

The Al Muntazir Schools (Toddlers, Nursery, Primary & Seminary) celebrated their annual event called the ‘Al Muntazir Week’ between August 11 to 15, 2008; in celebrating of the birth anniversary of our Imam-e-Zamana (ATFS). The theme for this year was ‘Spreading Happiness Amongst Mankind’ whereby various activities were carried out across all the schools in order to raise funds for the underprivileged children.

The objective was to cater for the emotional, educational and health related needs of the underprivileged children of Tanzania, while inculcating the nature of sharing and caring for their less fortunate peers among the Al Muntazir student community. Throughout the week children were enlightened on the theme through speeches, presentations and competitions; all leading towards creating awareness of poverty and how we can help.

Various activities were carried out across all schools to raise funds. The Al Muntazir Union Nursery School and its Toddlers Wing collected various stationery, clothes and toys for donation. They visited Lady Fatema School to donate some of these items, and also visited the "Muhimbili Childrens Ward" to visit the sick children and give them gifts. They also held a charity walk starting from the Nursery campus to the Toddlers campus.

At the Al Muntazir Boys Primary School and Al Muntazir Girls Primary School, a Food Bazaar was held throughout the week at the respective campus during break time. All the items sold at the Food Baazar were donated by the students, parents and well wishers. The proceeds from these fund raising activities will also be distributed among the less privileged children.

There was a sale of T-shirts, an exercise of water distribution and sale of stickers which portrayed the Al Muntazir Week slogan and theme. In addition, the Boys at the primary also washed cars of the parents who came to collect their children for a bit of watery fun while raising funds.

The Al Muntazir Islamic Seminary students, though busy preparing for their mid-terms, managed to raise awareness and funds through slide presentations, quiz, word-search, drawing competition, speeches, sale of CDs and presentation of a skit based on the theme.

Al Muntazir School would like to appreciate M/s Eye Catcherz for sponsoring the banners and all the parents as well as well wishers who supported and encouraged their children to take part in all the activities to raise the funds and also sent in a lot of items for donations. It was extremely overwhelming to see the amount of things that the students brought from home.

Al Muntazir School prays that their sincere efforts in making a small contribution to help this major problem effecting millions of children, is accepted by the Al Mighty. May He hasten the reappearance of Imam-e-Zamana (ATFS), Amen.
