Press TV (www.presstv.ir) is an English language international television news channel based in Tehran and funded by the Iranian government. With 26 international correspondents and more than 400 staff around the world, the channel aims to offer expansive news coverage, specifically delving into Middle Eastern current affairs. The channel also broadcasts cutting-edge documentaries and programs of political, social, and economic importance.
The award-winning former BBC journalist & novelist and also Guardian columnist, Afshin Rattansi, anchors world news from Press TV's headquarters in Tehran. Yvonne Ridley, the former Sunday Express journalist who converted to Islam after being captured by the Taliban in 2001 is another well-known face at the channel. However, the most immediately recognized face on PressTV - enjoying celebrity status - is George Galloway, a British member of parliament and the head of RESPECT party.
