Updated 8 October 2008
The World Federation had declared the 10th of Shawwaal as Grandparents’ Day, the same day as the start of Ghaybat-e-Kubra (the greater occultation) of Imam-e-Zamana (atf). On this special day, The World Federation honours our grandmothers and grandfathers for their invigorating affection and incredible sacrifices they have and continue to make for the love of their grandchildren. The guidance and unconditional love of our grandparents is the secret ingredient that drives our communities forward on the path of Allah (swt).
The World Federation is inviting all members of our communities, both young and old to send us a short write-up finishing the sentence: “I LOVE MY GRANDPARENT(S) BECAUSE…”
- You may also wish to write about someone who is a “grandparent” figure to you
- The write-up should be within or around 100 words
- You may include photographs (hijab must be observed)
- Please include your name, where you reside and your age (if under Age 16)
- All of the above information may be published on The World Federation newswire/website
- Deadline for all submissions is 17 October 2008
Celebrate Grandparents’ Day by calling your grandparents, taking them out for dinner or bringing them flowers. On this special day, show them how much they mean to you by making them feel important and loved.
We look forward to all of your messages.
