The National Youth Agency recruiting for Young Muslims’ Advisory Group – England

Updated on 14 July 2008

The National Youth Agency has recently been contracted by the Government to develop a Young Muslims’ Advisory Group (YMAG) which is designed to enable a direct conversation between young Muslim people and government policy makers.

The agency intends to recruit 20 ‘inspiring and ambitious’ young Muslims, aged 16 to 21, male and female, who can collectively reflect the diversity of the country’s Muslim communities.

The young people will have a unique opportunity to contribute to policy-making by putting forward the goals and aspirations of young Muslims in England.

YMAG members are promised direct access to ministers and policy makers, expert training provided by leading figures in areas such as media and presentation with the chance to organise and lead a national conference.

The National Youth Agency is looking for people who can become tomorrow’s leaders, thinkers, speakers and visionaries, and who can support and motivate others to take a positive role in the community.

To recruit these young people, there will first be a residential from the 27th to the 29th of August 2008.  The deadline for applications is 21 July 2008.

The National Youth Agency is asking for your support in encouraging young Muslims in accessing this exciting opportunity.  It is important to get as wide a representation as possible from all parts of England.  You are strongly urged to support young Muslims in applying for membership of the YMAG.
