The Hilal Committee of the Islamic Education Board of the World Federation has received confirmed reports of the sighting of the moon for the month of Rajab from East Africa. Therefore the Hilal Committee, in line with the rulings of Ayatullah Seestani, has determined the 1st of Rajab 1427 AH to be:

Thursday 27th July 2006 for mu'mineen all over the world.

Mu'mineen in areas of Southern USA, Western USA and Mexico were expected to have seen the new moon on Tuesday 25th July, making Wednesday 26th July their first day of Rajab, but since the Hilal Committee has so far received no confirmed reports of any sightings, Mu'mineen in these places should consult their local jamaats / Islamic centres to verify the start of the new month.
