Madinah al-Ilm and Bab al-Ilm: Outreach to other Shia Communities

Updated 28 July 2008

The World Federation's annual summer short course for community youths between the ages of 18 - 24 has now begun. Please click here to view the daily diaries and photos.

A key part of the short course is the outreach that The World Federation makes to members of other communities in helping build capacity within Tableegh throughout the world and enhancing external tableegh. This year, The World Federation has facilitated the inclusion of four such individuals:

1. Mohammed Ashroff Jalill - Sri Lanka

Mohammed Ashroff was born in 1987 and completed his A Levels in 2006. He is a keen sportsman and a member of his school's debating club. His interests also include the interaction of cultures in order to further human understanding and appreciation of one another. He is currently following his BA Degree in Business Management.

2. Mohammed Abdallah Machi

Mohammed Abdallah was born in 1984 in Silalonyi village, where he was raised. He completed his standard 8 primary education in 2002. Through Bilal Muslim Mission of Kenya he joined Kenyatta High School in Taita for his secondary education. He then transferred to Rasul-al Akram academy in Nakuru.
He presently volunteers to help the Mission by teaching in one of the schools in the rural centres where he continues to teach Islamic Religious Education.

3. Mirsad Poricanin

Mirsad was born in Bosnia in 1981 where he currently resides whilst studying a degree in History. His father was a veteran in the Bosnian Army. Mirsad works to support his studies in various temporary roles and jobs. Mirsad aims to achieve an ambition of teaching History. He is a keen reader, especially of Nahjul Balagha.

4. Hussein al-Baldawi

Hussein was also born and raised in Bosnia and is currently a student at Mostar. He is pursuing his final year of his degree in Economics. He comes from a Hasani sayyed family. Hussein intends to continue his studies at postgraduate level, inshallah.

In his spare time, Hussein enjoys reading the works of Ayatullah Shaheed Mutahhari and the Al-Mizan tafsir of the Quran by Allamah Tabatabai. He has always longed to visit the holy places of Qum and Mashhad and is delighted that he now has the opportunity to do so.

Hussein is looking forward to furthering his knowledge on Islam as well as to meet new friends.
