Mishkat Publishing Holds Ramadan Writing Contest

Mishkat Publishing is dedicated to recognizing and supporting the efforts of writers of Islamic Fiction.

To further this goal, they are pleased to announce a short story writing contest in honour of the sacred month of Ramadan. In addition, a $100 prize will be awarded to the winning entry.

In celebration of the occasion of Eid ul-Fitr, the winner of the contest will be announced on Monday, 6 October 2008.

The competition guidelines are as follows:

  • Participants must be 18 years or older
  • Short story should not exceed 15,000 words
  • Short story should be an example of Islamic Fiction. 
  • $100 prize will be sent to the writer of the winning entry via PayPal
  • All entries must be in English, original, and unpublished
  • The winning entry and honourable mentions will be displayed on our website for public viewing, along with the authors name, city, state and country of residence
  • All entries should be submitted in Microsoft Word Format, text only (no images or illustrations), double spaced
  • Manuscripts should be emailed to: WritingContest@IslamicFiction.com as an attachment.  In the body of the message, please include name, address, email, word count
  • Please also indicate that Mishkat Publishing has your permission to display your entry, name, city, state and country of residence on its website until December 31, 2008
  • Published authors of Mishkat Publishing are excluded from this contest
