The World Federation has three main objectives:
- To promote the Shia Ithna-Asheri faith
- To relieve poverty amongst members of the community
- To educate members of the community
The first and last of these three objectives fall under Islamic Education. This means that the Islamic Education team is responsible for the discharge of a significant amount of the workings of The World Federation.
Structure
The numerous projects of the Islamic Education function can be categorised under the following headings:
- Internal Tableegh: projects that focus predominantly on the Islamic Education needs of the Shia Ithna Asheri community.
- External Tableegh: projects that focus predominantly on the Islamic Education needs of non-Shia Ithna Asheris.
- Publications: projects that are linked to the publication of books and other similar learning materials.
- Islamic Religious Education: projects that focus on the education of children and young adults.
Term 2006-2009
In the term 2006-2009, the Islamic Education unit has been set 13 key objectives:
- Delivery of the Ta’lim project (an enhanced syllabus) for madaris
- Support the delivery of the Africa Task Force for Tableegh
- Publish two high-quality niche market publications
- Delivery of the Tableegh Task Force of North America targeted to E-Learning
- Strengthen the ties with Maraje
- Reform the support given to seminary students and start a targeted approach
- Deliver CPD courses as per needs analysis
- Increase the uptake of GCSE in Islam
- Build Capacity with Indo-Pak communities in the UK
- Post-Madrasah Youth Development Programme
- Build Capacity in Tableegh projects in Bosnia and other countries
- Develop men and women for the work of chaplaincy
- Complete the Anecdotes and 180 Questions series of publications
Perpetual Projects
In addition to the objectives above, this function also undertakes a number of projects that are not time-bound. Some of these include:

Dar al Tableegh
The head office of Islamic Education is named ‘Dar al Tableegh’ - an Arabic phrase meaning 'House of Propagation'. The office is situated in Harefield, near Northwood (North-West London).

Administration
The office is responsible for the day to day running of the Islamic Education projects and deals with the majority of administration and correspondence.
Library
Dar al Tableegh comprises a comprehensive library of books in English, Arabic, Farsi, Urdu, Gujerati and some Eastern European languages.
Study Area
Due to its secluded location and quiet surroundings, Dar al Tableegh attracts many students, of both religious and secular sciences. These students benefit from the spacious study area of Dar al Tableegh and are free to access the large library it contains.
