For participation in the Programme, each member of the World Federation of KSIMC will recommend students from within its Jamaats. The members will select students for recommendation based on the following criteria:

Religious or Ideological Grounds:
The candidates should meet acceptable standards in terms of practicing and believing in the foundations or tenets of Shia Islam; they should be knowledgeable about Islamic ideology.

Intellectual and Scientific Level:
Candidates must be graduates and at least hold the minimum scientific qualifications necessary for research activities. (Research spirit is one of the significant qualifications for participation in this course.)

Motivation:
Since Islamic teachings, study and research in this field require high motivation and interest, candidates are expected to participate in this course out of their own and real interest and motivation, hopefully avoiding drop-outs during the course. The candidates should define certain goals for themselves.

Moral Standards:
Candidates should adhere to Islamic moral principles, distancing themselves from disapproved immoral acts. They must enjoy good reputation.

Psychological and Mental Status:
Candidates should have an independent character and demonstrate ability to adapt to the conditions of the country of education.

Age and Marital Status:
Candidates should be under 30 years of age and in keeping with the tradition of the Prophet of Islam (s.w.w), should be married.
