The Council of European Jamaats in partnership with The World Federation will be hosting the third annual Pre-Marriage Seminar on 10 June 2007 in Latimar with the goal of providing valuable advice to facilitate successful marriages.  The seminar provides an interactive, thought-provoking environment for engaged couples.

The first Pre-Marriage Seminar was held in July 2005. Discussion topics included the importance of communication, empathy, commitment, conflict management and spirituality. Various exercises were carried out such as ice-breakers and a skit performed by a married couple, who demonstrated effective and non-effective communication.

One of the couples who participated in this seminar in the previous years had the following to say: Great opportunity to meet other young couples who understand what you are going through and share your hopes, fears, aspirations and also funny experiences – A great day well done.

All participants were made to feel at ease by the approachable and genial organisers, who welcomed questions and encouraged interaction, making it a fun and educational event.

The event is beneficial for all engaged couples as an experience in raising and discussing important marital issues, such as the difference in thought processes between genders, and how to accept and accommodate different personal traits.
