“Indeed those who have believed and migrated and waged jihad with their possessions and persons in the way of Allah, and those who gave them shelter and help - they are heirs of one another…” (8:72)
Almost three years after the devastating earthquake hit Northern Pakistan, thousands remain homeless. These victims of the quake continue to live in makeshift homes such as tents – where their greatest assets are blankets to keep them warm from the cold temperatures of the region.
Temporary schools (indoor and outdoor) have been set up to accommodate the children in the interim - whose childhoods remain suspended until such time that their families are settled in decent homes, that they are able to attend proper schools and play in safe playgrounds that consist of more than just rubble.
Every day counts to a family trying to survive. The World Federation is working in partnership with the Hussaini Foundation of Pakistan to build 300 homes at the foothills of Siachen - in the Northern area of Pakistan in the Kunduz Valley of the Gangchy District. About 300 houses in this area were destroyed by the earthquake. The Hussaini Foundation has just sourced building materials from the local government at subsidised rates to construct these permanent one room homes made of wood.

Ruined Homes which once housed the now displaced victims of the October 2005 earthquake; none of these homes have been rebuilt following the disaster.
This region is located in the mountains of Northern Pakistan, where the cold temperatures are prevalent.
The current makeshift shelters are sub-standard and do not protect the inhabitants from the cold and the rain.
The living conditions of these victims are far from humane in this day and age.
Day by day, it gets harder and harder to continue living in temporary shelters. Today, families desperately need your help to move from these shelters to adequate homes. For as little as £250 UK GBP / USD 500 / CAD 500, you can sponsor the construction of one house. This cost is low thanks to the subsidised rates negotiated by the efforts of the Hussaini Foundation with the local government agency.
We urge all individuals, families, schools, Madrasahs, Jamaats and other groups to come together to raise funds to help build 200 homes. Time is running out, and these houses need to be built before the onset of winter. Please donate today.
