Six year old Hasnain Aly of Australia was one of the first children to join The World Federation’s campaign against hunger by fundraising for the Ramadhan Relief Fund.
On 31 July 2011, Hasnain set a target to raise £500 GBP for Ramadhan Relief. By the end of Ramadhan, Hasnain reached 220% of his target.
300 million children go to bed hungry everyday. This Ramadhan, The World Federation invited children from around the world to join our campaign against hunger by raising awareness and fundraising for the annual Ramadhan Relief Fund. The money that the children raised will provide more hot meals to thousands of hungry kids.
Children were encouraged to set up their own ‘JustGiving’ page which would make it easier for them to fundraise for The World Federation’s Ramadhan Relief Fund and collect the donations.
Hasnain’s unique fundraising idea was to prepare a PowerPoint presentation for people who want to learn about Ramadhan and how to be a good Muslim during this month and all year round. Hasnain said, “I really enjoyed doing this presentation and I have learned a lot while making it. I learned about our religion and also how to use Powerpoint. My baapa and daadi also gave me money for reading Adhaan every day this Ramadhan and for learning Surahs from the Quran, I used some of the money to buy a toy for me and my brother, and some of the money I gave on my Justgiving page.
Thank you for the suggestion to collect money this Ramadhan for the poor children and I am looking forward to doing something again next Ramadhan.”
