It is narrated in Makarim al-Akhlaq from Imam As-Sadiq (AS) that: 
“I would hate for a man to pass away from this world  while still not having adopted any of the attributes of the Holy Prophet (S).”

      
In the present day, there are thousands of seniors in developing countries living in extreme poverty, loneliness and hopelessness. Not knowing where their next meal is going to come from, these elders must fend for themselves to survive. The World Federation’s Al-Qa’im Sponsor Our Seniors (SOS) Programme has one purpose – to give dignity and peace of mind to our elders in their old age.

The SOS Programme provides monthly financial aid to 203 senior citizens across our communities in Africa, India and Sri Lanka who are living in severe hardship. Thanks to the support of donors from around the world, these seniors are living a better quality of life where they are eating more regularly and receiving medical treatment. However, there are many more seniors who are waiting for assistance.

The Holy Prophet (S) has said:
“Verily venerating (respecting) me includes honouring the old men of my community.”

The Holy Prophet (S) has also said:
“…follow my sunnah with regards to prayer, fasting and charity…As for charity, be persistent in giving it until you say to yourself:  ‘I have been extravagant’.”

As we commemorate the death anniversary of our beloved Prophet (S), let us make a commitment to follow in his footsteps by adopting some of his excellent attributes. There are so many senior citizens who need your support today. When you sponsor a senior, you are honouring the Holy Prophet (S) of Islam.

The World Federation in partnership with The Africa Federation, CoEJ and NASIMCO is raising funds to meet the existing needs and the needs of more seniors living in Kenya, Tanzania, Bihar, Lucknow and Sri Lanka who are counting on the Al-Qa’im Sponsor Our Seniors (SOS) Programme.  Sponsoring a senior costs as little as £10 (GBP) / $20 (USD) / $20 (CDN) per month. With your donation, we will make sure that seniors sponsored through this programme will receive a cash gift each month so that they can afford to purchase the basic necessities they so desperately need.
