The Africa Relief Telethon on AhlulBayt TV successfully informed people about The World Federation’s work in East Africa.
Africa Relief is The World Federation’s campaign to provide humanitarian care to drought and famine victims in East Africa. Africa Relief is all about relieving human suffering in the Horn of Africa with kindness and an understanding heart. Choked by drought and disaster, the hopes of millions of people have withered away. Children are dying, families are abandoning their loved ones and communities are being destroyed.
The telethon Africa Relief hosted on AhlulBayt TV told people about The World Federation’s work in East Africa. To date we have fed nearly 100,000 people for an entire month in famine stricken areas of East Africa. We are also embarking on a project to provide primary healthcare to the refugees in North Eastern Kenya, and these healthcare camps will also provide secondary surgical care to treat preventable blindness among refugees.
The telethon hosted on Sunday 8th January 2012 showed the continued support provided by our generous community towards The World Federation’s Relief activities around the world. Shan-e-Abbas Hassam, the Secretary General of The World Federation and the host of the show said, “I am proud to belong to such a generous community who answer the call to help any part of the world. We hope that the community can continue donating towards Africa Relief.”
In East Africa to provide a refugee medical treatment, please donate £15 towards Africa Relief. To treat a refugee suffering from preventable blindness, please donate £50 and to feed a family of seven for an entire month please donate £20.
