Six months ago, the world watched an unthinkable catastrophe sweep through Pakistan where flood waters took over a nation in a matter of a few weeks. Among the ruins were 167 homes that belonged to Shia Ulema and religious students who lived in Pakistan; of this total, 78 houses have been totally washed away and 89 are partially damaged. These individuals and their families are displaced and living in relief camps along with thousands of others who have also lost their homes.
The World Federation of KSIMC is funding the cost of rebuilding 50 of these homes that were completely destroyed by the flood waters in Punjab and the Frontier provinces of Pakistan. The new residences will be 168 square feet in area and will include a washroom.
Dr Asgarali Moledina, President of the World Federation commented on the hard work of the volunteers behind this initiative: ‘We would like to thank all those who have put hard work in making these houses a possibility and to the donors for their generous contributions. Particularly, I would like to thank Maulana Zafar Abbas for bringing this noble project to our attention and for his hard work and endeavours.’
