In 1976, when our founding fathers assembled to address the needs of our community, it was identified that immigration of members of the community to different parts of the world was increasing, hence the birth of The World Federation as an umbrella body.
32 years on, this community is spread out even further, with communication technology allowing us to keep in touch. The World Federation Newswire, which is sent to subscribers every Wednesdays, aims to keep everyone informed about activities that our vibrant community undertakes, be it in Canada, United States, Europe, Dubai, or East Africa. Let me give you some examples of articles that have appeared in recent newswires:

Whilst understanding that the newswire can only be received by people who have access to the internet, in 2005 we launched a 2-page condensed newswire, that can be downloaded from the website. We requested all jamaats to print this and place on their notice-boards. We also have a French version that is available on the website.
I therefore request you all to please sign up to the newswire. You may do this by visiting The World Federation website. At the same time, please let us know of activities and events taking place in your localities, and we shall endeavour to feature them in the newswire.
So, who works on the newswire, where have all these ideas come from??
This falls within the remit of the Marketing Communications team of The World Federation, which consist of 7 youth, based in different parts of the world. The team has complete autonomy and full support from the Office Bearers in carrying out its activities.
In addition to working on the newswire, the team is also involved in designing publications and managing content on the website. The organisation thus benefits from innovative ideas brought up by these young professionals, and at the same time the youth benefit from gaining exposure, making an impact, and contributing towards their community and humanity.
I also ask you all to please provide regular feedback. On Saturday we have the Executive Council meeting, please participate in great numbers. There shall be sessions where youth and observers can ask questions to the leadership.
I shall end by requesting my fellow youth to please get involved in our community activities, I am sure our organisations shall welcome any skills you may offer. Let’s all work together as one, serving our community and humanity, as we await the re-appearance of our 12th Imam (AS).
