Position: NGO Manager

Accountable to: Deputy Office Manager

Salary: Negotiable

Closing Date: 2 October 2008

Job Purpose: To assist the Office Bearers and Assistant Secretary Generals in the strategic and operational aspects of the NGO status for the Secretariat of The World Federation. In addition, to assist the Secretary General in administering the Secretariat of The World Federation.

Hours: 9am – 5pm weekdays. In addition, the post holder will be expected to adopt a flexible working policy to work alongside Office Bearers, Assistant Secretary Generals if need be. Attendance to external meetings may be required out of office hours.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

QUALIFICATIONS:

A higher education diploma is preferable.

EXPERIENCE Essential:

  1. Working in small teams in task oriented projects.
  2. Experience in office management.
  3. Ability to work effectively with minimal supervision.
  4. Ability to create research projects and manage operational aspects of an organisation.

EXPERIENCE – Desirable:

  1. Working within an office environment.
  2. Working in the voluntary / public sector.
  3. Excellent oral and communications skills.
  4. Aptitude for working with computers and creating reports.

GENERAL SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Organisation:
Strong organizational skills included emphasis on pre-planning, structured and effective management skills.

Interpersonal:
Excellent interpersonal skills and communication skills both oral and written.

Teamwork:
Able to see “bigger picture” and to realize the implications of ones’ actions.
Possessing a proactive approach and attitude to one’s duties; sees tasks through to completion and taking ownership of tasks.
