 Community Health Strategy

The World Federation is planning to have a health forum in Nairobi on  Saturday 30 June 2007 from 3 pm to 6pm. The theme of of the forum is 'Is there a need for Health Strategy in the Community'

The Forum will look into some key areas:

  • From screening results to community health strategy
  • Prioritising health issues in the community
  • Strategising and implementing health programmes in the community
  • Community health policy and standard operating procedures
  • Follow up of health programmes in the community
  • Analysing and interpreting screening results

The focus will be on 5 main areas:

  1. Mental Health
  2. Diabetes
  3. Obesity
  4. Heart Disease
  5. Breast screening and cancer

Inshallah we are hoping that this forum will be attended not only by the health professionals of the community, but also by the community leaders, both Regional Leaders and Leaders of various Jamaats and WF Councillors. We hope that the community leaders along with the health professionals would be able to formulate a strategy towards a healthy community.
 
We hope to prepare a brief paper after the forum and present it on the next day at the World Federation Executive Council Meeting for discussion and adoption.
 
Dr Muhsin Sheriff who has double Masters in Public health, including one from Harward University will be facilitating the session and helping to formulate a strategy to move forward, which will be then discussed at the WF Exco meeting the following day.
 
The Forum will also be discussing the experiences of various health boards in screening and health issues faced by their respective communities.
 
All Jamaat Leaders, Health Boards, Health Subcommitees and Health Professionals are invited to attend and to participate fully.
