The Nineth Executive Council of the term 2006-2009 met in Dubai to agree a way forward in resolving the current elections for the post of the President of The World Federation for the term 2009-2012 which took place between 3 and 7 September 2009.

Office Bearers, Executive Councillors and Councillors from Africa Federation, Nasimco, The Council of Gujarat, Council of European Jamaats and  Dubai met together with the Electoral Commissioner, Amir Bhai Somji.

In the wake of the grave matter at hand, the spirit of brotherhood, of amity, of unity, of mutual respect and of compassion as behoves the Executive Council, pervaded the deliberations with a resolute will to resolve the issues in the best interest of the Community.  The focus of the deliberation was to support the Electoral Commissioner in undertaking and delivering his task so as to resolve the current impasse.  An acknowledgement of the hard work of the Electoral Commissioner under difficult circumstances was appreciated. 

Whilst the contents of what has transpired through the email traffic was noted with disappointment, it was noted that the majority of the worldwide community was ready to extinguish the raging fire rather than add more wood to it. The Executive Council  voiced its concern at the campaign of misinformation by a few, and vowed to work even harder on reuniting and revitalising the community and reinvigorating the ummah to do His work for His pleasure.  The eyes of the community were on this meeting and the expectation of making every effort that  we remain a united community under the banner of the 12th Imam ATF was palpable despite legal threats to  this  august institution that has no master save the Almighty, the Judge, the Praiseworthy, the Wise, the Majestic, the Beneficent, the Merciful.

Following extensive discussions, the Electoral Commissioner thanked the Councillors for their support.  In addition, he announced as per the SOP, he will now appoint three arbitrators to this process.  Once the arbitrators  have reported back to him, he will then announce the outcome of the election.

The Electoral Commissioner will be issuing a statement shortly.  Meanwhile,   the Councillors were asked to seek assistance in requesting support to withdraw any legal actions currently being taken.  This was received with support by all.
