In February 2006, delegates from the World Federation, comprising of Secretary General Yasin Rahim, Treasurer Azad Kanani and the Chairman of ZCCS, Mohamed Alibhai and his team of volunteers visited the various projects that ZCSS has financed and the schools in which ZCSS is sponsoring students in the Indian states of Gujrat, Karnataka and Andra Pradesh.
To date, ZCSS is not actively involved in Uttar Pradesh (UP) and Kolkata where there is extreme poverty and lack of proper educational facilities. Mohamed Alibhai therefore visited these villages in UP. One of the villages in UP he visited was Bargaun Ghozi which is not very far from Lucknow, and what he saw shocked him and decided that ZCSS will assist the villagers in setting up a school with the long term aim of eradicating their poverty by providing educational facilities.
With the assistance from Shabbir Hassanali Walli Merali , the World Federation, through ZCSS made an application to the Erach and Sadri Foundation (ERSF) to fund the capital project of constructing a school. Alhamdullilah with the Grace of Allah (SWT), ZCSS’ application was successful and ERSF have approved a grant of £25,000 for the year 2006/07 which will be utilised for the purchase of land and the construction of the first phase of the project.
