The World Federation’s Zanabiyya Child Sponsorship Scheme (ZCSS) has formulated an inspiring new vision; ‘Maximise the untapped potential of the individual so that they can achieve their ambition’. This vision was articulated at a Leadership Development Program for the ZCSS team, held on the weekend of Friday 31 August – Sunday 2 September 2007 at Latimer Conference Centre in Buckinghamshire.
The team also articulated mission statements:
- Improving the community’s quality of life through self sufficiency
- Developing people who can then improve others
The purpose of the course was to gain personal insight and master the understanding of the self, the team, and the organisation.
Throughout the next two days, the participants embarked on an enlightening journey of emotional intelligence, self reflection, and vision exercises. The facilitators of the Program used professionally recognised tools to enable effective and creative team workings to achieve its goals.
The course enabled the team to identify strategies on working on areas of development.
During this programme, the volunteers were able to craft a vision of ZCSS and an action plan to deliver that vision.
At the end of the weekend, participants were energised with the new focus created by the Program. This is reflected by the following quotes from members of the team:
- “With a new vision, a new mission and a newly focussed and motivated team, we will continue to deliver on the ZCSS objectives with a greater effectiveness”
- “This course enabled me to grow personally and recognise myself, which will enhance my performance as part of the ZCSS team”
- “A very appropriate and focussed Program”
The Secretary General of The World Federation, Yasin Rahim said: “It is inspiring to see such focus in our volunteers. This unlocking of their potential will have a ripple effect, inshaAllah.
