SIM Donates towards ZCSS Higher Education - London, UK

Zainabiya Child Sponsorship Scheme (ZCSS) has over the last 25 years or so, established a niche, in which it aimed to eradicate poverty through education. Since its inception, it has concentrated on primary and secondary education helping the sponsored students through their schooling from a young age.

The time has now come however, that the same children for whom Primary and Secondary Education has been a success, and they now require financial support to take them into Higher Education. Higher Education opens the doors for improved economic and employment opportunities. At the cost of £500 / US$1000 per annum, a student can be lifted from the dooms of poverty to the lights of affluence.

It was in this spirit, that the recent Shia Ithna Asheri Madressa of Stanmore in their end of year prize awarding ceremony, donated £1050 towards the ZCSS Higher Education Fund.

Hasnain Mamdani was one of five contestants in the remake of the popular quiz show, “The Weakest Link” in which the winning amount would be donated to a charity of the winners choice.

Hasnain went through all the rounds and in the end was the winner. His choice of charity is something the community should be proud of, because as a young man, he has gone onto support two students for a whole year with their Higher Education.

The Madressa Principal, Shafique Govani had the following to say. “Hasnain's choice shows that our students understand how important education is and this is an example of how they act upon our social responsibilities vis-à-vis our fellow brothers and sisters”

ZCSS would like to thank the Madressa and Hasnain Mamdani for their efforts and support and inshallah they will assist ZCSS in the future.
