Zainabiya Child Sponsorship Scheme (ZCSS) champions the rights of all children living in destitution access to education. Here is one individual’s account of how ZCSS changed his life:

“My name is Rama Chirunga Diyo. I was born on 6th July, 1984 at Bahakanda Village in Kwale District of Coast Province. In 1990, I was admitted at Bahakanda Primary School. I also enrolled at Husayni Madrassah at Bahakanda Centre managed by Bilal Muslim Mission of Kenya. This enabled me acquire Religious knowledge alongside the secular one. It is during this point in time that I started attaining Shia Ithna Asheri based Islamic studies. |
In 1999, I sat for my Kenya Certificate of primary Education (KCPE) examination and passed. Despite getting the points that qualified me for a secondary school intake, there was very little hope that I could join one. My parents just couldn’t afford it; the ghost of poverty was haunting my family.
I continued praying to the Almighty Allah to take control of the situation and decide my fate. Alhamdulillah, He made it possible for me to realize my wish. Through the efforts of Bilal Muslim Mission of Kenya, I joined Form one at Rasul Al Akram Academy in Nairobi. I was sponsored by Zainabiya Child Sponsorship Scheme (ZCSS) of The World Federation.
In 2003, I did my Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examination and passed well. Although I had an overwhelming thirst for higher education; at least at degree level, I had no means to quench it.
Again, Bilal Muslim Mission of Kenya through BLESS scheme of Africa Federation offered me a full sponsorship and in the year 2006 I joined the Mombasa Polytechnic University College to pursue a diploma course in Mass Communication.
As I am about to complete this course, I fully appreciate and thank my sponsors from deep inside my heart. I do appreciate and am fully aware that were it not for the sponsorships of ZCSS and BLESS facilitated by Bilal Muslim Mission of Kenya, I would not have reached where I am today.
I therefore, pray to the Almighty Allah to highly reward all those who in one way or the other contributed to my success. May God bless us all.”
