The World Federation’s Zainabiya Child Sponsorship Scheme strives to promote higher education in India. The main reason behind this is to increase the opportunities available to our fellow brothers and sisters with respect to their careers. This in turn brings about economic development, improving the lives of their families and uplifting the economies in the regions they live in.
There are many examples of ‘success stories’ of the children sponsored through this Program. Take for example Firoz Ahmed of Bihar, India who at the time could not afford higher education. He applied for a scholarship with ZCSS and pursued a Masters in Science in Chemistry. After completing this degree he continued with post graduate studies at the LN Mishal Institute on Management in Muzaffarpur - the fees were covered by the ZCSS Program. Firoz has since been appointed a manager at a Pharmaceutical Company and has now moved on to manage his own pharmaceutical business.
Sajjad Tejani, ZCSS Head stated: 'We hear of such success stories consistently and often it makes us all very emotional to see such changes for our community brothers and sisters. There is no doubt that the best way of moving out of deprivation is education. We will continue our push for higher education.'
Success stories similar to that of Firoz Ahmed continue to mount: In Bihar alone, 9 students have recently completed their Medical Degrees (MBBS) with the help of ZCSS.
Yasin Rahim, the World Federation’s Secretary General outlined: 'These success stories are more examples of the important work carried out, unlocking the potential of our community’s brothers and sisters through education is the best of gifts. It is the only way for sustained long term economic development.’
