Zainabiya Child Sponsorship Scheme (ZCSS) champions the rights of all children living in destitution access to education. Bahati Nyamawi is a recipient of grants from ZCSS. Here she expresses her appreciation.
“Assalam alaykum.
My name is Bahati Nyamawi Mwachiramba, I was born on the 19 April 1984 in Mackinon Rd which is located in the Kinango district on the coastal region in Kenya. I am the eldest sibling from a family of seven children of which 4 are girls and 3 are boys.
From 1988 to 1990 I was a student at the Jaffery Pre-Primary School, Mackinon. Thereafter I was enrolled in Standard one at the Jaffery Primary School and simultaneously registered as a student at the Madrasa Jafferiyya, Mackinnon Road.
I registered for the Kenya Certificate for Primary Education (KCPE) examinations in 2001 and performed well. Due to my performance I got an invitation letter from the top school in my district, however due to lack of finances I had to resort to other alternatives. I had to attend a local school that was affordable and closer to my hometown by the name of Samburu Secondary School.
Despite studying in this local school there was a small chance that I could eventually complete my O’ level studies due to poverty that exists in this region. It posed a great challenge and an obstacle in my pursuits for higher and further education. In order to support my parents in paying school fees I used to cook and sell maandazi and samosas.
During my second year the situation became even more difficult and I had an outstanding balance of school fees which my parents could not afford to pay. I prayed to the Almighty Allah to assist in finding a way to achieve my higher education objectives. My prayers were answered through the assistance I received from Bilal Muslim Mission of Kenya under the Zainabiyya Child Sponsorship Scheme (ZCSS) of The World Federation.
I sat for my Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) in 2005 and I performed remarkably well.
Thereafter I decided to enhance my religious knowledge based on the Madhab Al Haq, (Madh-hab Ahlul Bayt (a.s) and enrolled with Az-Zahra Madrasah at Amiirul Mu’minin, Matuga in 2006.
In the endeavours to increase my secular knowledge, I applied for a Medical Engineering (Bio-medical Engineering) course at The Kenya Medical Training College – Kilifi Campus. Once again I obtained assistance through the Bilal Muslim Mission of Kenya under Bilal Loan Education Sponsorship Scheme (BLESS) of The Africa Federation in 2007. I completed this course in April 2009. Alhamdulillah.
As I look forward to starting a good life and being able to support my family I still have a long way to go in my quest for knowledge and professional skills. I would like to thank ZCSS, BLESS and Bilal Muslim Mission Kenya for making it possible for me to gain the required knowledge and skills. They have helped in giving me hope of living a successful life.
I pray to Allah (S.W.T) to highly reward all those who have contributed to my success. May Allah bless us all. Thank you
