The Zainabiyya Child Sponsorship Scheme (ZCSS), in its quest to better the education that the children receive, was honoured with a trip to its schools, by Mr Terry Ward, who is a specialist in educational matters and affairs. He has in the past lived in Pakistan for approximately 2 years developing schools. Recently the opportunity arose for ZCSS to utilise Mr. Ward’s expertise in the development of its schools.
Terry travelled between 16th March 2008 and 22nd April 2008 covering as many schools as possible - where children are being sponsored under the ZCSS. He examined the current situation of the schools and analysed how to raise the quality of education being delivered.
Places visited were Gujarat, Bangalore, Karnataka, Uttar Pradesh & Bihar.
One such school is the one in Khujwa. This is located approximately 25 km from Siwan and about a six hour drive from Patna. It consists of three blocks, one is English medium, one is Hindi and the final one is where religious education is taught. Approximately 1500 students benefit from this school which also enjoys Government recognition.
Several schools were visited by Mr Terry Ward, and his observations showed that funds were being utilised well and that certain traits, especially seen around the sub-continent can be improved upon and he has presented this to the ZCSS team.
His efforts have been much appreciated by all and he will continue to work with the ZCSS team to ensure that the level of education for the poor Shia is of a very high level.
