Feature
Mbaraka is another young mother who has 4 children. Her husband works part-time as a farmer and is seasonally employed as work is not available year round, The family’s daily expenses amount to $6 USD per day. However, they are struggling to earn enough to lead a healthy active life. There are many mothers like Mbaraka in Kenya who are not able to afford proper meals for their children that contain the right nutrients, vitamins, and minerals. Children are the most evident victims of under-nutrition. Children who are poorly nourished suffer up to 160 days of illness each year. Poor nutrition plays a role in at least half of the 10.9 million child deaths each year.
