Syria Conflict: The World Federation condemns latest attacks against Shia Muslims and calls on all Jamaats to hold special Amaals during the Holy Month of Shabaan
Amid the ongoing conflict in Syria, sectarian tension has escalated to the point where Shias, Sunnis and the Alawites are being slaughtered senselessly. In the Syrian town of Hatlah, The World Federation has received confirmed reports that Shia Muslim citizens here have been threatened with revenge where a Husayniah was set on fire and innocent lives were lost. This most recent attack came after the take-over of the city of Qusayr by anti-rebel forces who defeated the rebels. The World Federation is calling on all peoples of Syria and beyond to end these acts of violence and division and work towards creating harmony, unity, brotherhood and dialogue.

Ramadhan Relief 1434: The World Federation prepares for aid distribution to 100 Syrian Refugee families - Lebanon
The World Federation’s annual Ramadhan Relief Fund is already in motion where our volunteers are on the ground preparing for aid distribution scheduled to take place in the coming weeks. Ramadhan Relief provides assistance to families, widows, orphans, seniors and the disabled who are affected by poverty, natural disasters, and conflict. This aid can be in the form of food rations, iftaars, debt relief and other basic necessities.

Operation “Well” Done: Grade 9 Madrasah students raise over $31,000 to build wells in Pakistan – Vancouver, Canada
On Saturday 1st June 2013, the Grade 9 class of Madrasah Az-Zahraa held Operation “Well” Done - a fundraising event to build 14 wells across Pakistan’s flood affected areas where over 1,000 water wells were destroyed by the 2010 monsoon floods. Not only did they raise enough funds to build 14 wells, but they surpassed their target and collected just over $31,000 in donations and sponsorships – amounting to over 50 wells.

Syrian Refugee Appeal 2013
As the current crisis in Syria continues to escalate, the figures provided by the UN in February 2013 stated that during the last two years, over 80,000 people have been killed and more than 860,000 individuals have been displaced from their homes. Out of these 860,000 people, 97% are in the neighbouring countries of Iraq, Jordon, Lebanon and Turkey.The World Federation is already supporting a number of families currently in Lebanon who have been displaced as a result of the current situation in Syria.
