On Sunday 23rd April 2023, 2nd Shawwal 1444 AH, The WF President – Alhaj Safder Jaffer, met His Eminence Sayyid Ali Huseini as-Sistani (d) and wished him Eid greetings on behalf of the community. His Eminence conveyed Eid greetings and duas for the community, especially praying for the Khoja community after Salaat al-Fajr.
His Eminence acknowledged the excellent work done by The WF and its members across the world in all spheres of religious, educational and welfare activities, reiterating his confidence in the Khoja Community. He appreciated the structures and governance of the community with highest esteem.
The President presented His Eminence with the latest edition of the English translation of Islamic Laws of Agha (Tawdhihul Masa’il 4th edition, translated from Persian to English) by the Islamic Education Department of The World Federation, as well as the first journal, ‘Al Qalam’ produced by the International Centre of Advanced Islamic Research (ICAIR), the research institute established by The World Federation. His Eminence was pleased to note these developments and prayed for the success of ICAIR. His guidance was to avail the services of well-grounded scholars from the seminaries in Najaf and Qum, engaging both men and women in the activities of ICAIR.
The President later met Sayyid Mohamed Ridha as-Sistani and discussed a range of topics. This included the academic support that the The WF require from His Eminence’s office, particularly pertaining to the activities of the newly established research institute, ICAIR.

On the same day, The WF President met the Head of the Awqaf Shi’is, Iraq – Dr. Hayder Al Shummari, who also heads Ataba Kadhimiyya – and conveyed Eid greetings to him. He was accompanied by Alhaj Abdul Karim Laljee, The WF liaison representative in Iraq. The meeting focused on the review of the current work done for the installation of the thesos tiles in the three main sahan of Kadhimiyya. Dr. Hayder stated that work is on schedule and that the basement work for utilities and removal of the old tiles was all scheduled to complete soon, with the installation of thesos tiles to commence, Insha Allah, in June. He was also confident that all the work would, Insha Allah, be completed by the end of the year.

The WF Islamic Education Representative in Najaf
The WF President and the Head of External Tableegh of Islamic Education Department, Shaykh Nadir Jaffer, met with the Islamic Education Department Representative in Najaf, Shaykh Ja’far Farishta.
Alhaj Safder Bhai, expressed his delight that the Najaf Coordination Unit activities were in full swing with activities ranging from the recently concluded Bab and Madinah Crash courses, as well as mobilization and interaction with the 24 Khoja students studying in Najaf. There was further discussion on how the students can be actively involved in the ICAIR activities and engage with leading scholars in Najaf.
