10th July 2022 / 10th Dhu al-Hijjah 1443

In the Name of Allah (SWT), the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful.

Dear Community members,

Salamun Alaykum

Once again Allah (SWT), in His Infinite Mercy, has blessed us with the joyous occasion of Eid al-Adha. I take this opportunity to wish you and your families on behalf of The World Federation a very happy Eid Mubarak.

Eid al-Adha not only brings us together in happiness and celebration but also unites us in contemplation of the current times and our hopes for the future. For the relatively few community members who after two consecutive years due to the pandemic were unable to carry out the duties of Hajj, Alhamdulillah were able to perform the Hajj this year, May Allah SWT accept your ibadaat and many more believers can go next year. Others were able to spend the day of Arafat in Kerbala, where every heart of a mu’min craves to be – this demonstrates willpower and unity for a common goal. Much of this reflects how we need to be as a community, and the sacrifices that need to be made for the greater good.

This day of Eid is an opportunity for us to reflect upon the lessons of obedience, submission and servitude. As mentioned in the Holy Qu’ran, the real philosophy and objective behind the Qurbani is:

لَنْ يَنَالَ اللَّهَ لُحُومُهَا وَلَا دِمَاؤُهَا وَلَٰكِنْ يَنَالُهُ التَّقْوَىٰ مِنْكُمْ ۚ كَذَٰلِكَ سَخَّرَهَا لَكُمْ لِتُكَبِّرُوا اللَّهَ عَلَىٰ مَا هَدَاكُمْ ۗ وَبَشِّرِ الْمُحْسِنِينَ

It is not their flesh or their blood that reaches Allah. Rather it is your God wariness that reaches Him. Thus has He disposed them for your benefit so that you may magnify Allah for His guiding you. And give good news to the virtuous.
(Qur’an – 22:37)

We are entering uncertain times with potential economic challenges that is impacting the lives of many. Hajj teaches us the lessons to remain steadfast and resolute and unite in passing the tests from Allah SWT much like Nabi Ibrahim (a) and Bibi Hajra and Nabi Ismail (a) passed with flying colours. A human’s state only gets elevated as she passes through tests, and we as a community have demonstrated that resolve many a times largely due to our firm belief in our faith and divine practices.

On this day of Eid, I would like to express my sincere gratitude to the many volunteers and community workers who have helped selflessly. To all the donors, regardless of the amounts donated, your thawab lies with Allah SWT – and He will Inshallah reward you beyond measure, Ilahi Ameen.

I wish to encourage you to partake in the Kadhimiyya Tile Appeal – We still need your support in completing this project. I encourage you all to donate generously through this link:

At this juncture let us pray for the safe completion of Hajj and return of all Hujjaj and zawwar back to the safety of their home and families. Let us remember those who have left us during this year for their heavenly abodes with Sura e Fateha.
