Tila’s Recovery Through Care and Compassion
A Childhood Restored

After witnessing an airstrike in November 2025, five-year-old Tila withdrew completely. She stopped eating, avoided others, and no longer engaged with the world around her, including her younger brother.
Despite multiple hospital visits, no clear cause was found. Weeks later, she was diagnosed with severe malnutrition. But her condition continued to deteriorate.
A Lifeline Through WF-AID
In February 2026, Tila was brought to a women and child clinic supported by WF-AID in Gaza. Our team quickly identified that her condition was not only physical. Tila was also living with post-traumatic stress. She began a coordinated care plan addressing both.
A Turning Point
Through nutritional support and trauma-focused therapy, Tila slowly began to return. “For the first time in months, she smiled,” her mother recalls.
“She talks to people now. She plays with her brother,” her mother says. “I feel like I have my daughter back.”
Across Gaza, countless children are facing the combined impact of trauma, hunger, and limited access to healthcare. At WF-AID, we are committed to delivering care that restores both physical health and emotional well-being, because survival alone is not enough.

Thousands of children like Tila are still waiting for care.
