Zakāt al-Fitrah Due as Eid Approaches
As the blessed month of Ramadhan draws to a close and Eid al-Fiṭr approaches, Muslims are reminded of the obligation of Zakāt al-Fiṭrah — a wajib charity given at the end of Ramadhan to purify one’s fasts and support those in need.
Allah (SWT) reminds us in the Qurʾān:
“Take charity from their wealth in order to purify them and sanctify them with it.”
(Qurʾān 9:103)
Zakāt al-Fiṭrah forms part of completing the worship of fasting, ensuring that vulnerable members of the community are also able to share in the blessings and joy of Eid.
