The World Federation of Khoja Shia Ithna-Asheri Muslim Communities marks its 50th Anniversary in October 2026.
During our community’s history of around 150 years, members have settled across all five continents. While advancing our strong religious beliefs has remained central to the development and progress of our communities worldwide, community members have also achieved outstanding success in business, education, philanthropy and sport at local, national and international levels.
As part of the four-day Anniversary events, the World Federation wishes to recognise and honour distinguished sports personalities and contributors (male and female) within our community in the following 12 categories:
1. Best Upcoming Young Sportsperson
Under 18 years as at 31/08/2026
For a young sportsperson who has demonstrated notable achievement, talent and strong future potential.
2. Most Inspiring and Active Senior Sportsperson
Aged over 70 years as at 31/08/2026
For an individual who continues to participate in, promote or contribute positively to sport after the age of 70.
3. Most Inspiring Sporting Story
For an individual whose sporting journey demonstrates exceptional resilience, determination, personal development or positive influence on others.
4. Most Successful and Organised Community Delivering Sporting Opportunities
For a Jamaat or community that has consistently created accessible, well-organised and successful sporting opportunities for its members.
5. Most Impactful and Inspirational Coach in Any Sport
For a coach whose leadership, development of participants and positive influence have made a significant sporting or community impact.
6. Outstanding Contribution to Sports
For an individual who has made a significant contribution to sport through leadership, administration, volunteering, development, promotion or service beyond their own sporting performance.
7. Sports Achievement Award
Aged 35 years or below as at 31/08/2026
For an individual aged 35 or below who has achieved outstanding competitive results, records, honours or sporting recognition.
8. Outstanding Financial Contribution to the Development of Community Sports Facilities
For an individual or organisation whose financial contribution has materially supported the creation or improvement of community sports facilities.
9. Outstanding Sportsperson with a Disability
For a sportsperson with a disability who has demonstrated outstanding achievement, participation, perseverance or inspiration through sport.
10. Lifetime Achievement Award in Sports
For sustained and distinguished sporting achievement, leadership or service over a significant period.
11. Sports Personality of the Century
For an all-time outstanding sportsperson whose exceptional achievements and legacy have had historic significance for the community.
12. Posthumous Sports Award
For an outstanding deceased sportsperson or contributor whose achievements and legacy merit special recognition.
Alongside the presentation of awards recognising the sporting achievements of the Khoja community, it is hoped that the programme will create a forum for future discussion on progress to date, collaboration across communities, future direction, and the importance of further promoting sports participation and excellence within the global community.
The nominations can be completed by any of the following:
· Any individual Jamaat member or a member of his/her family (male or female over 18 years); or
· Any Jamaat; or
· or any regional federation.

All nominations will be reviewed by a panel of judges appointed by the World Federation. The panel will comprise five individuals with distinguished backgrounds and experience in sport.

The winners of each award will be announced shortly before the World Federation’s 50th Anniversary Conference and celebrations in London, United Kingdom, in October 2026 to enable them to attend the presentation and who will receive their awards be recognized at the presentation.

The Awards Committee reserves the right to decrease and/or combine certain awards depending on the number submissions and quality of responses.
